Im worried about towing my new (slightly heavier) motor and causing damage to the transom whilst towing and with british roads its a given that boats and outboards will bounce about abit while in transit.

Now the factory towing pin was ruined and bent so i replaced with a M20x250mm stainless bolt which goes all the way in and rests inside the transom bracket at the other side so the whole motor is supported across the whole length of the bolt rather than just an inch of pin as it obviously bends over time. However it still doesn't solve the issue of potential cracking the transom while under load.

I always rest the motor on the towing pin and put a ratchet strap over the leg and lash it to the underside of the trailer to try and eliminate as much road bounce as possible but i spend my whole journey paranoid that il have a cracked transom once at the slip.

Ive seen (transom saver bars) online (pretty expensive for what they are) But the Americans seem to swear by them, I'm wondering if any of you guys have any experience with these products and are they the the way to go OR will my new pin be more than enough coupled with strapping down?

Cheers peeps ?

Yeah thats my thinking, I'd rather be safe than sorry i just dont know if they actually "work" or not,

I dont want to purchase one if its just going to cause more grief than good

Maybe thinking of making one...
