Transom mount log transducer

I saw on ebay transducers for fitting at the transom. Easy to keep clean . I realise it will be in less uniform flow, but will it give acceptable results? Anyone tried one? Im talking small cruising fin keel yacht. Thanks.

Designed for planing hull, having this at the back in the wash behind your hull and keel would be of little if any help.
