Any thoughts on an inexpensive way of doing this. I'm a bit reluctant to spend the £35 on the proprietory data lead that connects the two for a one off use, thats nearly half the price of the GPS for a lead! Or maybe some kind soul who's bitten the bullet and bought one would lend it for a donation to RNLI?

thanks, Colin

check on ebay.
I bought the Garmin to 9pin serial lead for about a tenner. I already had the USB converter.

write them down on a piece of paper and upload them into the new gps, simple, although time consuming. costs nothing, but if you have no pen and paper, it should cost less then a £1 to get them... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

this must mean putting the waypoints onto a pc then downloading them onto the other Garmin. Dont you need some software for that? The other way is using a lead that pugs into both GPS's so you can transfer them direct without going via a pc, or so I've been told.

You could buy 'bare end' cables (which are cheaper) and make a cable to connect any GPS to any other (provided both are serial interface). That would probably do the job without the need to use a PC. Or you could download (for free) SeaClear (google it) and do the transfer via a pc.
