Transducer compatibility between Lowrance and Garmin?

I have an old Lowrance Elite 7 Chirp with a transom transducer. I'm planning to change to a Garmin Echomap.

Will my transducer plug straight in and work? Do I need an adapter cable or is it just not going to be compatible? It's a new transducer changed just before I bought the boat but I have no idea what it is.

Cheers!

I’ve just ordered an EchoMap with a GT15 transducer https://www.marinesuperstore.com/fi...armin-gt15m-ih-8-pin-in-hull-chirp-transducer

And then remembered this thread and the Airmar P79 recommendation… should I have gone for the Airmar? What’s the difference and which is best?

They’re pretty much the same price.
Not a massive difference between the two, especially if you only use it for depth. If you use it as a fishfinder the GT15 will likely be a little sharper in shallow water.

Cool cheers I’ll stick with it then.

I guess I’ll have to wait until the boat is back in the water to fix it down, there’s a “test your mounting location” procedure in the manual before sticking it down.
