Had some brilliant news in an email from Pwllheli SC this morning....
Ideal for mobos and lift keel yachts.
"The first Phase of the trans-peninsula canal (Trans-Pen Canal) has been opened. The new canal starts in Pwllheli and passes through the nature reserve on the outskirts of our ancient market town

Campaigners and supporters of the project have worked for many years to establish this important waterway which will connect CARDIGAN BAY with CAERNARFON BAY This will shorten the distance by over thirty miles!
Boats will pass through the glorious Llyn countryside and areas of outstanding natural beauty including the site of special scientific interest of Gors Geirch. It is hoped that this will provide boats with easy access to the superb cruising waters of Cardigan Bay and possibly an onward journey to the harbours and anchorages in Portmadog, Barmouth, Aberdyfi and Aberystwyth.
When completed the canal will offer the area an additional attraction to match the steam trains of Caernarfon, Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog and will reinvigorate the heritage of the harbour town.

The 'Trans-Pen Canal' has already attracted much media interest and celebrities of the sailing and music world are expected to be among the first to cruise on the waterway. If you would like to join the celebrities this morning, three places have been reserved for the first to respond to this message.
The first boats will pass the opening lock this morning and you are all invited to attend the formal opening ceremony which will take place this morning 11.45 1/04/2016 at the sailing club..........
