Trailer sailor breakdown cover

I read all of the T's & C's of the different breakdown companies when I wanted cover to include by 27ft x 8ft x 12ft high rig which weighed around 3200 kgs.

The only one that would cover me was Britania Rescue.

I lost a wheel on the M6 on my Etap 22i (weight 1750kg, beam 2.4m) Green Flag refused to recover because of width, ended up costing me about £500, not happy.

I would guess the problem occured because of confusion over the trailer width. You should have given them the width of your trailer (7'6" ?) And they would have covered it, the extra width of the boat would be the perfectly legal 6" over hang each side. It's the same with length, the legal maximum is 21' but this excludes draw bar and overhang behind rear axel. So its perfectly ok to tow a 30ft trailer but if you tell the recovery company its this long they will refuse to pick up. ( because the legal definition of your trailer would be 21ft x 7'6")
