I have seen the thread from December but would be interested if any new solutions have been found. I am looking for Roadside breakdown insurance to cover my car and trailer. I have to date been very happy with Autonational but they do not cover large trailers. I need to find a company that will cover a Sealine S23 on a trailer. The boat itself is 25' and on its trailer the total length will be 30', height 13' and width 8'2". Any help to resolve his would be appreciated.

Britannia Rescue might be worth a look

I have decided not to bother and carry with me a spare wheel hub and a box of tools.
If you do find a reputable company I suggest you write to them include a picture of your rig including all dimensions and ask the difinitive question.
If my trailer breaks down with the boat on it will you recover it, and if my car breaks down will you recover both car and trailer.
If they agree to recover given all your information I would consider them as well at a reasonable price ;)

Breakdown Direct sounded great right up until " If your vehicle breaks down whilst towing a caravan or trailer we will recover it together with caravan or trailer providing they do not exceed the following dimensions: 8m in length, 3m in height and 2.25m in width "

The small print is a killer on most of them, designed for small trailer. Caravan club and NFU often have policies designed for caravans and horse boxes that suit your size boat better, and they are (well used to) take on boats on trailers equally happily if you told them your requirements.

I had a policy with Brittania Rescue. It was one they had in association with the RYA or the RNLI or something. They stated that they would recover any road legal trailer and boat combo as long as you had informed them of the exact dimensions at the time the policy was taken out. My 25ft Bayliner was about 30ft overall on its trailer as well as being just over 8 foot wide and about 13 foot tall.

It was covered with them although I never needed to put it to the test.

Concur with Brendan. When I towed I had cover from the NFU. They will ask for the overall length from Hitch to overhang at the back. Also the width and overall Height and number of axles. I had to get mine weighed on a weigh bridge to give them accurate weight, they WILL want it.

The cover was only for one tow car and the "stated" trailer. I only ever used it once. It was worth it. Other contractors would have quoted between 150 and 200 pounds (7years ago) to recover the boat/trailer.

The likes of the caravan club don't cover boat trailers any longer as far as I'm aware.

Rangie snapped a drive shaft on the way down to the Thames this summer. We have RAC cover through bank account, they could not have been more helpfull.
