One man was killed and two injured in a collision between a mobo and a dory in the entrance to the Percuil River, St Mawes, on Saturday night at about 2230.
It appears from press photos that the mobo, a fairly high powered one it seems, rode over the dory at some speed. Police have cordoned off the mobo in St Mawes and were treating it as a crime scene, although too much should not be read into this at the moment as this is routine procedure

Local news says the boats were travelling in opposite directions between Falmouth & St Mawes. Neither boat saw the other before the collision. There was no indication of whether either were carrying lights, nor of the speeds.

If they were travelling in opposite directions you would have thought it might have been a head on collision, but from the pics on TV and in Western Morning News it seems the mobo hit the dory fair and square on its starb'd side.

A very sad accident which I saw reported on local TV last nite where it was claimed it was a head on collision which was clearly contradicted by the very clear photos of the dory which showed severe damage to its port steering position.

Even sadder it seems that the deceased and the helm of the other boat were good friends, all very tragic.

yes sad and tragic .... and perhaps wrong to speculate
but - if I remember correctly and not wishing to pre-judge - couldnt it just remotely be something connected to youthful play like the silly activities we see on our roads at that sort of time in the evening by some ppl in charge of cars?

I keep an open mind but have seen what drink, drive, speed boats and water do together /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
