Why so many boats? Traffic jam?

Nah - no more than the usual Cowes week crowd, - except there was a good deal more Navy about. They cant afford the fuel to go out much nowadays so made the most of this particular knees up to get a bit of extra seatime in. But if you look closely you will see most of them anchored up as soon as they got out of Pompey anyway, to save fuel.

In the old days of fleet reviews, the fleet would sail past HM as he/she took the Salute. Government cost cutting now dictates that HM sails past the fleet.... and this time on what looked like a glorified Tug boat!

Bit of a let down after the 1977 review with HMY Brittania lending her own unique grace to the occasion.

Rumour has it they are going to charter the Gosport Fery for the next Fleet Review, if cost cutting goes on at this rate.... or perhaps the Waverley could be chartered for the occasion? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Lovely pics everyone - thanks; I missed it, being delayed on the way back from a trip to 'Riddle of the Sands' country (or should that be sea?) - head winds all the way up, and most of the way back, with thick fog in Dover for good measure.
