Trader Motor Yachts' website (not to be mistaken with Tarquin Yachts) is defunct, the company seems to be gone. Toby Chappell is not contactable any longer. He used to help with questions from Trader owners, like me.
Does anyone know what happened to the company/Toby?
Many thanks.

Not at all. They are late filing their accounts which is most likely not-getting-around-to-it syndrome and nothing else.

So does that mean their assets are now actually the property of the crown or is that to just give them a kick up the wotsit

And the fact that their website has disappeared off the network?
Another minor oversight?

sure yes they may well have chosen to close the business, or be ill or something, if they’re non contactable etc. Apols for sort of missing that in my reply. All I meant to say was that the companies house info per se implies nothing bad/tax dodgy. It’s quite common for small companies to be late filing accounts and get a “you’re gonna be struck off” notice.

Possibly so, but I wouldn’t buy a boat from a company that was currently engaged in artillery launches back and forth with Companies House trying to avoid the “you’re gonna be struck off” scenario until the smoke had cleared.

And you'd be 100% right. Any company selling high value items to generally savvy buyers usually tries to take care of its corporate image and accounts overdue by 3 months resulting in a striking off order doesnt exactly do that

I'm also aware of the colorful history of the brand, so to speak.
And even if in hindsight I'm glad I didn't eventually finalize the purchase of a Trader 575 for which initially I got in touch with Toby, I must say that he came across as a passionate chap, knowledgeable and willing to help.
Sad to see them going out of business for good - if that's what is actually happening, mind.
I guess Gludy's view might be different...
