I am trying to track down my Grandfather's old yacht (and my first introduction to sailing). The boat is called AR Dawson it is a 42 ft Falmouth Pilot with a ketch rig. It had a blue hull and white wheelhouse, was kept on the River Yealm in Devon until my Grandfather (whose name was Dugald Macfie) died in 1982, when it passed to a Hungarian artist who kept it in Dartmouth. Not sure where it is now (and there is a good chance that it has not survived) but would love to track it down, if only to see it again.

Anyone out there know of it???

Thanks team

It is mentioned here but as a motor launch!, however this may be a good place to start your quest. Just noticed that at bottom of that link is a photo...presumably she is the white boat.

Hi - yes she is the open white boat. I am not sure whether it was bought in its converted state or not. It is the one reference to her on the web. Which is one more reference than my grandfather's previous boat has: a Thames Sailing Barge called Harold which was his home on the Thames before he settled in Cornwall/Devon. I for know for certain that Harold is sadly no more......

I belive the boat you are searching for is ashore in Darthaven Marina Kingswear Devon being repaired/restored. Hope this helps.

Robblind,
