Joy. Went out to do some quick maintenance jobs today. First went to fire up the engineer and noticed a little more than the usual water in the engine bay. Not a significant amount though. Opened the valve on the sail drive leg and she started almost first time.which is nice. Put a spray of patio magic and then went to do my usual checks - the ones I would normally do first - like checking the bilges. Horror - full of water. Frightened man with a bucket came into action. So - how would you go about tracing the leak? First culprit I checked was the log impeller - the top of the housing has a small horizontal crack but having dried it all out and left a dry cloth around that seems ok as the cloth still seems to be dry. Sat here quietly I can hear a drip towards the stern but that just might be my paranoia. The dry bilge has had about an egg cup added in about an hour but that might be run off from inside the bilge pump hose. I will obviously come down more frequently to check but any recommendations? I ran the engine again to see if that made things worse but apparently not. Its sea water based on taste. Correction - I may have been wrong about the sea water bit. The current content appears to be fresh so I am draining the tank. There was water in the bilge between the sail drive and the calorifier which was fresh.
