I think I discovered a sender unit for the fresh water on my Moody 35. It has a label for "TP-Electronics Centre" and a defunct phone number. Possibly circa 1993. There is no dial or gauge on the yacht or other box for the unit.

A Google search shows no web site or email for TP-Electronics Centre, but an old company address in Plymouth.

What confuses me is that it has 8 wires that appear to go into the aluminium water tank.

If it was two wires I would assume it was a resistance sender and could easily diagnose it with a multimeter.

If it was three wires I would assume a capacitive sender and could probably knock something up.

But 8 wires and no box / dial ????

Anyone got any clues or hints?

David.

Is it one of those probes with one common wire and the rest cut off at varying lengths? As the water level rises it shorts out the common to each of the other wires in turn as it rises. If so you just need a box of tricks to light an led as each wire is shorted out.
