Electrical sockets on more recent vehicles are diferent to those on older ones eg. a 2003 Disco was different to a 2010 VW Tiguan.
Worth checking before the big day.

It's also worth pointing out that a transit van, which is easily hireable, can tow 3.5 tonnes.
Of course it's very little use on a slipway or a beach, but then, so's my Landrover.
You need to set up the boat on the trailer to get the weight right, so the trailer does not snake, from memory the weight on the ball should be about 75kg?. Also if the jockey wheel slips you should be able to lift it.
......... and then there's a beam limit. Is it 8'4" ?, I can't remember. You can always take a chance on an inch or two over.
I was given the following two pieces of advice regarding towing a boat.
A. If you can before you set off tow the boat to a local weighbridge and get it weighed, and if you are under the 3500 gross set off, so if you are over you can remove things.
B. Some of the professional boat movers specifically tow on a Sunday as the roads are quieter and the weighbridges are closed.

If so, it must be very lightly built, or missing some bits The current equivalent weighs 650kg. http://www.merseatrailers.com/produ...k=yes&prod_code=SBK4-250HD&product=SBK4-250HD
I had a 2600kg rated trailer that weighed 600kg
Brand new out of the factory so I'm inclined to think it's OK.
A vehicle worth considering is the Kia Sorento 2009 and older. Highly rated as a towing vehicle and according to many - better than a Landy.
Okay, I should have stated the Titan. The 2009 Sorento Titan has a braked towing weight of 3500kg.
