HELLO, PLEASE HELP! I HAVE A 4.5METRE RIB WHICH I BROUGHT IN THE UK IN 2018, WITH A VIEW TO TOW IT OVER TO GREECE AND LEAVE IT THERE. COVID AND BREXIT HASNT HELPED. I NEED TO GET IT OVER THERE BUT IM REALLY STRUGGLING TO FIND OUT WHAT PAPERWORK I NEED, AND ALSO HOW I GO ABOUT PAYING THE VAT ON IT. HAS ANYONE RECENTLY TOWED A RIB ACROSS? ANY ADVICE WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL!

Probably not the correct "legal" answer but I would just tow it behind my car as if I was going on holiday with a view to return with it after the holiday. Then maybe forget to take it back at the end of the "holiday". A car with a caravan seems to be ok without paying vat on entry so there should/ maybe be no difference. There are many boats over here in Portugal (and Greece I am sure) on UK flag with no questions being asked yet about vat provenance unless they want to sell them here or re register on the Portuguese registry which may raise the question with the finance department. As has been said many times on here, vat provenance and vessel registry flag are not connected.
