Tour of Balearics Marinas suggestions

Unfortunately have to agree with jrudge, the g&t served to me was possibly the worst I have had in Mallorca! no ice, short measure, not the usual 'goldfish bowl' you get over there..

I heard that you are banned for eating your own sandwiches whilst drinking at the bar.:D

Doug, as the local in Cala Dor, did I go into Smugglers on a bad night? Just looked at Trip advisor reviews, everyone says great g&t's....!
Do the Spanish have a word for vegetarian:confused:

As a vegetarian I wound suggest you don't goto the rather large steak restaurant next door!

In fact the whole of spain is **** for a vegetarian!

There is a great veggie restaurant in Palma not far from the Cathedral but unfortunately it does not open in the evenings.

Always very busy with the Spanish locals.

Tony & Yvette who own the Smugglers are very good friends of ours and both are great hosts to their customers.

The bar is hugely popular with many regular people returning year after year.

BUT (isn't there always a but) during the last 2 weeks of July and all of August the place is jam packed in the evenings and Tony does become a manic barman due to the volume of orders.

We frequent the bar mainly at lunch times and outside the manic season when the calmness and ambience is more pleasant and Tony returns to his normal self.

Should point out that I have never seen Tony or Yvette be rude or offhand with any customer and Yvette is just great at steering the stag/hen parties away using a mild but firm and pleasant manner. ( She sends them to Bens Bar :D)

They are ex publicans who ran a very successful Pub on the South UK coast.

Before they took over the bar they ran the Calas restaurant as Tony is a very accomplished chef.

Spanish for vegetarian is Pasta Bake or Rissoto.

Actually the Steak House do very nice jacket potatoes.

Being a vegetarian is a huge handicap in all countries not only Spain.

I cannot stand the taste nor texture of any meat but I do not get affected by other people eating it.

Why people choose to become a vegetarian because of a love of animals is beyond me.

I'm even thinking of trying hypnotism to overcome the veggie burden.
