I have Harken on my 32 foot boat. I don't know much about other systems, indeed I don't know much about the Harken system. It just seems to work fine.

It was on the boat when I bought it and still is, coming up 20 years next year.

Our Furlex was new just before an ARC in 2001 under a previous owner, and is still operating reliably. It was inspected and the forestay wire renewed by a very experienced rigger in February and the furling gear was judged fit for continuing service.

20 years with the same Profurl system, it has done over 50,000 miles and still going strong. Just needs a bucket of hot freshwater over the drum once a year to keep it sweet and free running.

when replacing mine the rigger said profurl. I asked why and he said simple design little maintenance but not as smooth and easy as harken etc., he did say look at most of the charter boats have profurl fitted.
I did have a problem with mine but their customer service is much to be desired.
