Hi all.

Newbie and beginner here!

Does anyone have any experience of owning boats like the Bella 703 or the Trusty 23?

I'm looking for any and all advice/tips/warnings on friendly, economical and practical river/coastal chuggers.

Thanks!

Hello and welcome!

I had an aquador 23Ht which is built by Bella Boats of Finland. Bella make great boats, most of which are inboard diesel.

Do you want to sleep/overnight on her?

Cheers

Yoh! welcome.
You get all sorts of advice on here. And Yer leg pulled!
We Will ask questions though.
Like -- where are You planning to go Moboing?
You mention 2 types of craft.
One is a quickie and one is as You say a Chugger.

The type of use You fancy putting Your boat to can determine what type is best for You.
Total Newb is it.
So what has got You interested in Motorboating if I may ask?

Welcome.

As Paul says, Bella build pretty solid boat, although they are anything but chuggers. they are full planing boats and a great way to start.

River/Coastal is a bit of a mismash - you will find you either get one designed for a specific set on conditions (ie coastal or river) so will be abit compromised on the other. I would look at coastal boats, as the inadequacies on the river will not be as noticalble as a river boat on the sea.

if that makes sense

Let us know what you want to do, ask questions and youll get loads of help and advice. this forum was the single most useful resource when i started power boating.

T23 is a very nice boat with good seakeeping abilities but equally at home on the rive. despite on being 23ft it is extreemely well equipped and would make an excellent cruiser.

Hi all, and thanks for the replies.

Is the Bella 703 a "quickie"? I don't think so - it's very much in the chugger mould.

An old colleague's enthusiasm for boating rubbed off on me. I haven't got a clue what I'm looking for, but I just really fancy the idea of having a little chugger to use for gentle pottering around the Scottish coast when I'm back in the country - I spend most of the year working overseas. I'm not looking to do anyhing adventurous for now!

Something that could comfortably handle the odd overnight/weekend would be ideal.

Your right!
Bella 703, I was thinking of another Scandinavian make, Doh!
Think the 703 is a kinda canoe stern type.

Nidelv type.

Trusty 23 You also mentioned.
Funny enough saw one being towed Today.
Didn't think they would be towable.
Well not behind the tow vehicle that was doing the job.

Twas an import People Carrier of Mazda origin.
Looked extremely hairy!

Something that will make 10 kts would ideal.
Just to punch the tide thereabouts.

6/8 kts cruising with bit left in hand.

Channel Islands 22?
Getting a bit old in the tooth now but still some nice ones about.
Good sea boat had one for years.
£18000 to £20000 would buy a mint one these days.
Good luck!
