Well, we will be heading west from this w/end, so I see some rain and mist will be on the way. That given, we could end up for a day or two in Torquay where we got stuck two years ago by the storms.
So, while we could find things to do in Brixham and Dartmouth, what did we fail to find in Torquay ?

The Exit!!

Well there is Living Coast a short walk from the marina, but frankly I am not sure what the attraction of Torquay is, unless you are disco loving lager lout!

As you you can guess I am not a great fan of the place as there are much nicer places close by such as Dartmouth and Salcombe.

I am sure a resident will be along in a moment to defend the place.....

You can have fights with the larger louts and oggle their birds as their dresses fall off.

Park on the HM's pontoon, it's free or more or less.

Best pubs for oldies. Turn up the road near Debanans?? store, then emmediate right up a narrow road. On the left is The hole in the wall (I think) infront is another local type pub.

I have 2 weeks in this area every august and spend most of the time in Brixham, and a couple of nights in Torquay and a couple in Dartmouth, when in Dartmouth you must visit the Cherub, It usually rains for most of the 2 weeks so finding things to do is not easy, in past years it has been difficult to get a berth in Torquay marina even using the mdl outlook card as they always seem to be full and so couldnt get the free nights you are entitled to.
This year will be based in Kingswear for most of the 2 weeks so will make a nice change.

I m only in Torquay coz I CANT get into Brixham!
Only for a couple of days, and then we will potter on.
Where and what is the Cherub?

You can usually raft on the visitor pontoon at Brixham without a booking, unless things have changed in the last 3-4 yrs. With Whitsun week out the way, I wouldn't expect it to be that busy, plus it will be pouring with rain of course which will keep the numbers down :-)

If you do end up in Torquay then you should go to a nightclub (when in Rome), so don't forget your best Farrah slacks.

Wherever you end up, have a good one.

Thanks Nick;last time we used the visitors pontoon the rain had failed to wash away the foot thick seagull ****, so even Torquay sounded attractive.I expect we'll move over to Brixham and then whats left of Dartmouth within a couple of days.,anyway.
Good point about the nightclub. I ll rummage through No2 s fencing medals to find something that looks suitably imposing as a chest medallion; a splash of orange fake tan and a black shirt two sizes too small and I ll be on all the VIP guest lists.

As long as put them away before you come to Dartmouth. ;)
