I have a torch like this.
I could have bought it from Woollies (can't remember).
Cheap and rough, but fine for what I want.
Some friends are about to sale off into the yonder and they want a similar torch (they may change their minds and go for a decent one - but for now they want 2 £7 ones)

Anyone know where to get a similar deal? I've just searched screwfix, maplin, ebay, with no luck.

I bought a couple of Draper torches 1M cp from Robert Dyas for about £7 each. Worked well for one season, although battery life was not good. Then the Chinbese sealed lead acid battery's packed in. I now have a couple of Nite Trackers 1M cp, far brighter than the Drapers were, also robust and the battery lasts much longer. Better value at about £50.

I was lucky in getting these at a good price from Nauticalia. I don't think they were a normal stock item though. For me, a large torch is an essential and I would not compromise again.

Thanks for that - I'll get them to go there. (B&Q website is rubbish so it will take a shopping trip rather than a button push)

If it is class you are after then the Pelican Nemo 8 D Cell is a cracker, fully submersible and with a good battery life. Only 100k CP but the beam is very crisp and penetrates better than most 1m CP lights. Less than 50 quid too!

I d echo the battery life comment. I mio canles sounds great, but if it only shines for a few minutes before needing another 5 hour charge, its pretty useless as a torch!

Aye indeed, and with a proper torch having a burn time of up to 12 hours you certainly pay for what you get.
