On our insurance renewal... why do Topsail now not cover Italy as part of the usualy Med region and why do they need a survey for 3rd party only cover?

Same with Navigators and General. Mentioned in their policy but I'm based and sail in the UK / channel area.

You need to ask them. They are generally very quick to respond and can flex things like sailing area.
What underwriter are they proposing for your cover, and has this changed since last year.

Italy now demands a much higher 3rd party liability cover (IIRC £8M instead of the usual £3M or 5M) so is being excluded by many

Topsail is just a broker - it will be the insurer and underwriter that sets the conditions. They represent a number of insurers, although many are underwritten by Amlin.
