Just fitted the IKEA INREDA LED lighting to the Saloon, which was £45.96 for 4 units.
These have adjustable downlighting angle, and are a lovely yellowy warm white, which is brighter than my G10 Halogen downlighters ever were.

You get a 230v to 12v converter which you can use as a hat stand or something. Anyway, just toss it in the can, you hook the lights to your 12v system.

Highly recommended. And much much cheaper than the normal marine offerings.

Thanks for the tip. Do you happen to know the dimensions of the units? I suspect the existing fittings in my SO36.2 will be the same size as yours, but it's worth checking.

No, the units in your 36.2 will have large mounting holes required. These are surface mount and just require 2 crews to secure and any hole throught the headlininh greater than 6mm.

The units I took out of my Jeanneau had about 55mm holes, so these units just planted on top, covering the holes. No problems, fitted in under 5 minutes each.

Very disappointed to read this as i spent a load of money the year before last having expensive marine ones fitted.

Off thread slighty - I;ve just replaced a 240w x 50w Halogen downlighter with an IKEA 4w replacement and it's as good. Slight downside was that it takes about a second to light up but I was very impressed(my wife didn't notice). Only another 15 to go at £9 each........
