Do you want lock staff or not ?

The sight of the fabled TEDLOCK hoving into into view after a 8 hour adventure round from the Royal Medway is a real pleasure and the thought of all the rest of the locks being worked by some other poor buggger for the entire period of our holiday is very heartwarming.

Ignore all those Milksops who moan about getting their fenders dirty,a bunch of Mechanical Salt-Butter Rogues and Frosty-Spirited Rogues to a man :)

Low bridges keeps the "real upper Thames' " exclusivity.....

You didn't want a serious answer did you??

Its a different world beyond Osney, its almost like 2 different Rivers. The bigger boats would spoil the upper parts of the Thames

I can get my boat under Osney, it just takes about three hours to do it! Yes there are different boats up there, about 80%+ are narrowboats. Which seems strange we pay a licence for the whole river, yet one bridge bridge stops quite a few boats progressing beyond Oxford. I know it's a fantasy, but raising the bridge 0.5m to match the other low bridges would allow a lot of boats which aren't 3 storey gin palaces to use the river they've paid for.
