so when looking at different models then the same models with different brokers there seems conflicting speeds is this normal ,and where can you get the true values

More likely the true values on here as long as people will give there true input stating what boats, year engines, load etc then take an average .

My motorsport hobby is full of adverts of cars with the same engines from the same or various tuning builders stating all sorts of ridiculous hp figures especially turbocharged varieties.
Fortunately there is a mathematical equation whereby only so much air and fuel can be injection into an engine through the mandatory air restrictor , this gives a hp equation, people stating hp figures are on cloud 9.

It’s not uncommon that certain Japanese engines fall short of there brochure stated figures especially when the fuel temp is higher than the test cell figures.

Over the years I’ve known absolutely identical boats to be 2 knots difference with mates as owners who can’t understand the difference, a different prop manufacturer for a start can make a huge difference to the figures .

So ask away what boat do you have in mind?

HI paul we like the rodman 38 not ips and the azi 39 but the azi has only one seat for the driver and the other is a curved bench ,which swimbo likes to face forward ,I suppose we are lookin for a 40 ft with two beds two seats facing forward on the fly ,we want to cruise over 20 knots and the saloon needs to convert into a bed ,and must be shafts

When I do bother to untie the ropes and go out I only do up to 8 knots so you both beat me:encouragement:

Hi,

I also noticed the same thing differences between the different information.

It may be due to many things, weight (water, fuel, other goods, people), wind, wave height and direction, flow, Hull clean, right propeller selection etc.

Only a sea trial with that boat gives the right answer to you when you know what the engine manufacturer gives rmp max and the rpm speed you can run all day.

Nbs

yes I can take all that on board ,but you would think that brokers would quote manufacturers data if they don't then where would peeps like me get the info ,basically if they get that wrong can you believe what else they say about the boat

I think everything a broker says you are obliged to validate yourself. They have a get out of jail free card with the fine print of acting in good faith and accurate to their knowledge. Also they may say for instance has 6kw generator serviced last August, but they wont tell you it has no compression and has a life expectancy of another 30 hours. I think it's very much a case of buyer beware and you do due diligence and survey to confirm their statements. To that end when I was buying I had had some bad prospects that I had rejected. When I went to the broker I bought my F34PC from I was originally looking at a early gen Fairline. One of my stipulations was that it could do at least 21knts cruise, manufacturer stated cruise at 25. It got on the plane, barely, at 19 and was enough for me to reject and claim back my deposit. A broker having a deposit and giving it back is an anathema, and I was offered the F34PC in it's place at a very healthy discount. How could I say no? So it can work both ways. Good luck Roy :encouragement:
