Top 10 boats you'd love to try

Thinking of which, I expect having a go on a Viking longship would be a bit of a hoot. Until it started raining, that is.

I have been out on a replica Viking longship, owned by a Danish teacher training college, at Brest 2008. With the squaresail hauled fore and aft she started to go pretty well on a reach, and the hull flexed with the waves in a very sensuous way. I bumped into the crew out on the town later in the week and that was interesting too!

Ah, we ran into them. They were certainly there to have a good time.

Hydroptere at 45 knots plus.

AC 72

An 18' skiff.

Yes I'm a speed junkie

If you're a speed junky, you want to try a 12ft Skiff rather than an 18. It'll scare the bejesus out of you.

I'm not sure I have 10 off the top of my head... A Contessa 32 just to see what all the fuss is about, the beautiful 'Eve' of St Mawes (or any of his other builds :encouragement: ) Adix, Velsheda or any of that ilk... Russell's Lucy... Oh and that lovely Island Packet that joined us for the Fowey Scuttlebutt run last summer :)

I'm incredibly lucky to have sailed on most peeps dream boats, and called it work. Mariquita, Figaro 2, contessa 32, jpk However I'd like to try:

Class 40 GDF Suez
GC32
J class the more original the better.
Hms Victory
MV
Spindrift (the trimaran)
Cutty Sark
L'hydroptere
James Caird

Then there would be some motor boats....
