Tools Lidl Reminder

If you think it's going to perform like the fein you'll be disappointed. It's a great little tool for the money.

Thanks to the formite that pointed out the future items for sale at Lidl on here I visited Lidl today.

Walked out with a Mutitool -£29.99, Electric scraper £16.99 and could not refuse the 4 multitool blades at £6.99 (bought 3 sets!) and Diamond sharpener -£9.99.

With work on boat and 4 properties to maintain extra tools are always useful as the one I want is always somewhere else.

Be interested to see if the Lidl multitool performs as well as my v expensive Fein but cheapo is guaranteed for 3 yrs so can't see where I could go wrong!

Plenty in store this morning but be quick if you want yours..

Whoever posted the info last week thanks and keep the info coming.

Will an ordinary bi metal blade be OK for the brass thro hull fittings.

Currently considering two options. Loosen fitting nut and cut through on inside (Galadriels suggestion). Other is to use a cone cutter carefully on outside to just part flange from threaded bit! Need to identify cone cutter suitable for brass and one that wont "grab" the fitting. Prefer both of these to the marine engineers method of "carefully" grinding off flange on outside with an angle grinder. Carefull that you don't damage hull!!

I used a SMALL angle grinder very successfully in removing two brass/bronze through-hull fittings, and I'm no injineer! As advised by experienced boatyard injineers, the job turned out to be quite easy, and there was no damage to the hull moulding. Reasonable care, goggles and gloves.....

If I could manage, you could achieve same.

For this type of tool, I don't see how the Fein can perform any better - at least while it lasts. I do recognise that it may last longer, but a Fein costs three times more than the Lidl. They just oscillate a blade backwards and forwards by a degree or so - and the Lidl doesn't slow down under any level of pressure that is unlikely to break the blade.

Just shows that I should pay more attention. I thought these Electric Scrapers were at ALDI, Went to ALDI to buy one of these Electric Scrapers and they did not have any. Did buy a 240v Multitool £29 which compliments the Cordless one I bought (which I am delighted with)
