My home town in Latvia ..... Ventspils is finally sorting itself out ... they have a lifting bridge over the deep (10m) river that hasn't been opened for xx years .... They are now sorting a second bridge to take the HGV traffic and restore lifting capabilty to the town bridge ............... brilliant !

Of course of more interest to those who know about Baltic .... but open invitation ... YES no kidding ... If you make it to Ventspils - I'll meet you, sort needs etc. .......... no commercial interest ... just buy me a beer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Latvia is a nice city & the people I met there were wonderfully welcoming. Sadly, I am unlikely to be in that part of the world again as I have changed jobs. But I can recommend taking up Nigel's offer if you are in the area!!

Do we congratulate Nigel on his election to high office in the C.A? HLR no less! Last time I went to Ventspils was in 1959, sailing under the fouled anchor, U.B.C, Baltic Trader if I remember correctly....47 years ago, God I'm getting OLD!
