A bit of light in the storm (quite apt at the mo), Fleming Yachts has posted a new video this week of Tony Fleming and Venture revisiting Prince William Sound...
I've warmed to Tony's very laid back presenting and his camera work is excellent. A very relaxing watch for those who are interested in such things..

(PS.. Tony, if you're watching and want to hand the baton to a slightly younger chap to carry on Venture's travels, I'll happily sacrifice my time to do it :D )

Venture revisits remote Prince William Sound - 2025 - Chapter 1

I subscribe to both the Fleming and Tony’s own YouTube channels. There’s a lot of fabulous videos there. I especially liked the ones about his personal journey. I didn’t know he once worked for American Marine.

His own Fleming clocked up 78,000 nautical miles earlier this year. Wow.

+1 for the quality and content of his videos. His videos are packed with details about the boat (obviously) but also how he passage plans and accesses remote areas and taking the time to see things properly. A true professional in everything he does.

That’s over 200 miles a day, every single day - is that right? 😳

I do find his travels inspiring.. In this day and age perhaps a fairly rare character who appeared to build boats because he was passionate about making a better product that actually did what he sees as the best job, as opposed to merely just making the boat that could make him the most money.

I liked the story where a customer requested bigger engines on a boat and before equipping the customer boat, Fleming put the same engines in their own boat to check if they would work correctly.. That's an A-Grade company in my book.

And since in a not too old interview, he stated that an eye opener for him was the cost of doing his adventures. So still 'one of us' in many ways.

Sorry, yes, I was thinking of the trimarans falling over thread where daily runs of 600+ miles are achieved. Hence the ability to do mega miles in a year.

Fleming's approach of choosing his speed to match his fuel requirements is more my kind of thing.

Yes, it's awfully gentlemanly :D I like it..

I have to say if anyone wants to have a nervous breakdown, have digital fuel consumption gauges. I can summarise with 5kts - Hooray. 8kts- Ok. 12kts - ooo eck! 20kts - Anyone want to buy the shoes off my feet?
