Re: Tony Bulimore Waffle!

He just gives sailing a bad name along with a few others.

Take a close look at the pictures. This is someone that admitted shaving his keel and then it broke off!

First picture shows a turnbuckle on the end of its adjustment (Port side). For me that would be replaced immediately and the cause of the miss-calculation or stetch found.

The saddle going down over the spar and the pin down by the A frame base looks distorted already. To me it looks a poorly made stainless saddle. It should have had the forces nearer the ends of the big pin and just a spacer in compression around the pin. Trying to stop a pin distorting with small webs is not the way I would do it.

That's a new one on me. What does it mean and when /where did he admit to it? Please substantiate.

Jeepers!!! if only he was just as smart as you, but he probably has more bottle to go and do it. You could offer to do the design work and checks next time he has a go, as he surely will.

Sorry, but that what I used to do, before I went off sailing around the world! Mending and fixing super yachts.

Gosh, I bet Tony wishes he had had the benifit of experience like that, then it would never have happened.

Hi Dave and Will,

My snipe is that he always seems to have calamity follow him!
Not a dig at him, just jokey fun!

And for those that have mentioned

'...and what have those who are knocking him ever done?'

I can only speak for me,

Atlantic five times,
Round the Horn twice,
Been to the ice north and south,
Indian Ocean,
Persian Gulf,
Pacific,
Panama Canal,
Corinth Canal,
The Nile,
Philippines,
South China Sea,
Bearing Straights,
The Falklands,
South Georgia,
San Fran,
Long Beach,
New York to Florida, having many stops on the way,
Most of the Caribbean including Cuba .....................

Had the odd scrape along the way, never as publicised as Tony's though!

Sadly, with fame comes cost!!

Would love to listen to the 'dits' over a few pints with him though. But to sail with him? I wouldn't rush.

Hitching a ride on the grey funnel line does not count as "sailing experience" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Though there are exceptions /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

My next posting - JAN 08 (or AUG 08)

How could you?

Given the chance, although SOME ( /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) of these have been with the grey funnel lot, I would have much preferred to have experienced all of these under canvas.

What is she Will? She looks fun! Whats the trip your on? Do tell, do tell?
