TOM CUNLIFFE - Henley on Thames - Nov 11th

Hi laika

after I've been sailing for the last 4 years in Turkish and Greek waters and hearing Rod's reply to the same problem, it seems it's not easy to personally be in every spot mentioned in the books, regularly enough to keep up with changes.

Often you are relying upon published proposed improvements, other times upon other peoples experiences.

Speakers are generally well approved of at HOG, others though are like Marmite to some.... :D

That was meant to be taken lightly as a humorous reference to the other thread.

..however...Mr. Heikells books do get regular addenda on the imray web site: 20 pages for the 2009 Turkish waters pilot with the last update only being 8 months ago. No problem at all with that. TC's 2009 channel pilot by contrast has a one page correction sheet on the imray web site, last updated over 3 years ago, and some of that is stuff correcting just plain errors in the pilot as originally published. It's also a smaller area and one in which presumably he works all the time. I wonder what becomes of corrections people have mailed in in the past 3 years?

I'm not by any mean saying that I haven't had good use out of my "Shell Channel Pilot" over the past 4 years (Because I have...), but for the cost of the book and the volumes it probably sells it is a little disappointing that they couldn't add in a few important corrections between editions with a similar frequency to Rod Heikell's stuff.

(but I certainly didn't mean to hijack this thread and if I were anywhere near Henley I would have liked to attend :-)
