Can anybody advise on the practicality of anchoring in the "pool" at the NW of Tollesbury Fleet? I have previously only been around there a few hours each side of HW but it is a lovely peaceful spot and I fancy an overnight in proximity to the Old Hall marshes. The boat is a bilge keel Sadler 26 so is quite happy to sit on a bit of mud. Would appreciate any advice.

I don't know which part of the fleet is the pool you want but we used to anchor overnight there quite often. We used to go ashore on the 'hard' and take the children for fish & chips. I don't know if the landing is still there. It was always soggy and we referred to it as a 'soft'. It should be peaceful but I don't know what moorings have changed since my days.

If you anchor to the north of Great Cob island you will stay afloat but if you venture further upstream towards Old Hall Creek you will take the ground at springs. Perfectly do-able as I used to moor a twin keeler there and much quieter than the south channel.
