Swimbo and I are staying aboard tonight but were greeted by an 'orrible smelly gunge leaking from round the base of the wc pan. I've rolled me sleeves up and cleared it away but I can't fathom how this French plumbing (and the lectrics come to that) work. There's a blackrubber button, and six inches away there's a chrome button. Both make lots of whirring and gurgling noise when pushed, and the rubber one dispenses some water in the bowl.

Could anyone spare me a minute explain how the thing should work. The pump by the pan is a Jabsco.

Use the marina loo tonight and buy a Tecma tomorrow. SWMBO will love you for it :-). Tecma, designed by clever Italian shiiitprocessors, is where it is at boatbogs-wise

Couldn't agree more, tecma bogs are far more superior than them old style jabso noisey macerators, however the smell might be from the inlet water pipe, over the years the pipe ends up with crustactions and micro organisms lattached the wall of the pipe, when left for a while with brackish water in then they honk like a sewage pit the first time they are used, once in constant use they don't suffer to bad, even changing the bog won't cure the smell, change the inlet pipe or make its supply come from the fresh water tank, that will cure the problem.

Sounds like the chrome one is "empty" and the rubber one is "fill" (possibly operating the mascerator at the same time?).

We have a Jabsco toilet that often needs a bit of cleaning out. Overuse of paper clogs the mascerator blade so anything inthe bowl just goes round and round and doesnt flush away. To get to it properly you will need to remove the bowl (4 bolts at the base of the bowl) and you should just be able to get your fingers in there (isolate the batteries first!!!!).

We changed all our poo pipes last weekend. They were full of scale etc and rather smelly, but all is odour free now!

When I push the rubber button water swills into the pan and subsequently drains away. The chrome button makes a whirring/pumping sound, and, there's another button for the macerator under the basin.

Any Jeanneau Prestige owners out there? Helloooo. . .

Isn't the one under the basin to empty the holding tank via the seacock that's also under the sink ?

As said, sounds like the rubber button is flush, this pumps water in and around the bowl and out the other end. The chrome one is empty, just pumps the water out. You press the black button until the water is clear, then the chrome one to empty the pan. That's how it all works on my 805, although i don't have the two buttons, i have a rotary knob, one way to flush then the other to empty.
