Anyone know of any companies that will come out and pump out toilet holding tanks? I have been told of a portaloo company that will come out for about £60 but they only have a 10 metre pipe and I think I might require 15 to 20 metres to reach the tank from the boat yard parking. The boat is in Surrey.

Sounds like you need a company that empties cess pits.

Do a google for "cess pit services surrey" - should give you several options.

Please note this is a sensible reply - the lunatics will no doubt be along later :D

Try " A Better Service" 01189340104 Reading office and tell them what you need. Their website says they will do Surrey - abetterservice.co.uk

Hope this helps

No conection to company - just very satisfied customer

You do not give a location so it is difficult to recommend a specific company. We are "off mains drains" where we live in Weybridge and use a firm called Dicol Effluent, based in New Haw (01932 346509/ 07860 388229) to "de-sludge" our sewage treatment plant. They have fairly long hoses to reach our system but you would probably need an adaptor to your tank. They just drop a hose end into the effluent rather than couple to a tank.

Are you reasonably close to a sewer? If so, it might be worth doing it your self. I used to enmpty a small holding tank on our previous boat using an old Aquavac vauum cleaner. It would take about five gallons at a time which I could then carry to a manhole. Another option is to get a simple manual bilge pump and some suitable containers. Again, I used this method while we were living on a boat and building our house.
