Hello,
I'm new here but been reading around the
Forums for ages
Anyway
Was going to take my boat out the other
Day and started the tohatsu up in
A bin before I went out, unluckily it was pumping hardly no water just a bit running down the leg ofthe engine :(
I don't think its the impeller so what should I do because the day before it pumped wAter fine in the bin?

Thanks

Kris

Are you referring to lack of water flow from the telltale. If so it could be just the telltale blocked.

The bulk of the cooling water leaves underwater with the exhaust gases

Does it have a flush point? The 3.3 has a bolt on the underneath that you can screw an adapter onto and then hose through. Or it might just be muck in the drain hose.

The Mariner 3.5 4st does have this and think its the roughly the same lump as the Toh.

This has been a constant problem on my 8hp Yamaha outboard. I always flush with fresh water after use, but this doesn't seem to help. Even had it running in a wheelie bin with hot water / vinegar mix, and still no good.

Had the leg off, the impellor was fine, but plenty of crystallised salt and surprisingly loads of sand in there.

Still didn't sort the problem, so in the end, opened the head up and cleaned out the waterways. The waterways are very narrow, and salt crystals will easily block them. It is now running fine (until next time)

I suspect that this will be the problem with yours, and this is what you're going to have to do.

I also have a Tohatsu 3.5hp which is doing the same thing. It seems a common problem associated with salt water use.

I wouldn't want to run mine without water coming from the tell tale, as water flow through the head may well not be as it should.

Heyy,

There is water coming out the tell tale but
Very small amounts, I don't understand it was working fine the day before and I've not taken the engine in the sea for a few months, so I don't know what it would be :(

Thanks

Kris
