I need a couple of toggle switches (on/off - SPST) for mounting on a half inch wooden panel. There are thousands of toggle switches available but I can't find one with long bushing i.e. longer than 12mm, which seems to be the limit of most switches.

Has anyone found a source of switches for mounting through wooden panels?

I'm afraid not - it's a;ways been a problem with wooden panels. If the panel is removable and you can get it under a drill press, then a smallish forstner bit will allow you to thin the area down to suit a standard switch, otherwise you'll have to make a thin panel to go over the top with clearance holes.

The panel already has a number of other electrical items attached so removal would be difficult.

If there really are no long bush toggle switches available then I would accept any style of simple on/off switch (12V 2A max) that can be mounted on a 12mm panel.

Drill a large hole to allow the bulk of the switch to fit in the wood panel.
then fit the switch to a large washer which is bigger than the hole so it conceals the hole
then put 2 small holes in the washer so you screw it to the face of the panel
It just makes it look as if the switches have round bezels
