Today

But more importantly....this morning we victualed the boat so that tomorrow we can get an early start and spend New Years onboard

This has never happened before 😡🤬.....you wake up bright an early and the forecast has completely changed. We’ve lost our window to come home. Now we all know what will happen....if we stay home the weather will turn out to be beautiful....but if we go it will turn into a category 8 hurricane. What to do 🤔😳🥺😢😔

So we decided to take our chances….what we weren’t anticipating was that the port of Porquerolles would be jammed solid…the Capitainerie very kindly gave us what was probably the very last place…if I say it was a tight squeeze…I would be exaggerating…luckily (as followers of this forum know) I recently had my thrusters scraped and cleaned….so we just made it…leaving in a breeze might be a challenge

If this thread lasts an inordinate amount of time…it’s because we have lost our weather window…our backup plan is to look at real estate

If you are still stuck there on Old Years Night, maybe you should gate crash the party on the yacht with the lights going up the mast - they look like they might be fun company.

Is the sea warm enough for swimming by UK standards (maybe 16C?) ?

In the third photo of the first post there is an interesting timber gaffer with a long bowsprit - do you know anything more about her? She looks a tad out of place surrounded by so many plastic boats.

Yes…she has a for sale sign on her…I always had the impression that she was crewed by cadets or something…she’s been a regular fixture in the port of Lavandou for ever

Afternoon walk…that’s the semaphore on the hill…used to communicate with the French Mediterranean Fleet
