Just been informed by David Miles of Fleming Europe ltd, that the sale of Play d'eau completed today. So after 30+ years of boating, we have brilliant memories of places we've been, people we've met and friends we've made. Now, with the head having won the battle of decision over the heart, and using the immortal words of Dragons Den, 'I'm out.'

Safe cruising, one and all. Piers and Lin.

Very sad☹️The end of an era. Good luck with whatever the future may hold and don’t be a stranger to these pages??

Must feel a bit strange after so long and so many adventures. Enjoy your garden and good luck with the next chapter!

I had a look at your boat online. A very lovely craft. I can well believe that it will have been a wrench. Hopefully the new owner will get as much joy from her as you did.

Piers, a hard day with lots of memories, they say "there are two good days when you own a boat, the day you buy and the day you sell".

Personally I don't subscribe to that view. Yes I see boats every day, and yes its a tie on occasions but I do not subscribe to that view, I still get a lot of pleasure from my boat in normal times ( not Covid times).

I put a £5 note on the table now, that by may 2022 you will be looking at RIBS or Botnia Targa's or Sargos, do we have a bet?

Perhaps the tender wasn’t included in the sale?‍♂️

Piers, from a sailing person who has enjoyed your mobo pictures and stories, many thanks and best wishes for your terrestrial activities.

How soon before you get withdrawal symptoms and give in to the call of the sea ? :)

Thank you all for your kind and supportive comments. Yes, it's a wrench the likes of which I've never known before apart from when losing Mum, Dad, and then a sister.

Although I thought I was ready for the call to say the sale was complete, I obviously wasn't. The words 'you no longer have any responsibility for her' hit me like a train and emotion swelled. Someone asked me later that evening if I felt 'Guilty'. A really good question, to which the answer was 'Yes'. I felt I'd dumped a fair maiden who'd looked after Lin and I so well, for so many years.

Ah well, she's in good hands and would you believe, now owned by someone living in Guernsey who will keep her in the same berth in Beaucette (her berth) - and he'll be keeping the name!

Will I find a RIB? It's a good challenge, Bandit, and maybe not only something to lure me back on the water again, but such fun for the grandchildren. Who knows? And I'm not really looking at the Humber website....

Piers, its weird but I bought my Aquastar 48 in Vilamoura in Portugal from a Guernsey resident.

I am sure my John can take you for a blat in his RIB.
