To upsize or not

not quite sure the wisdom of having a chunk of money invested :)

Love the description of owning a boat as an investment. :)
A more apt description apparently is standing under a cold shower tearing up £50.00 notes (or euros) ?
Perhaps the simple test is could you conceive , on a glorious sunny day, standing on the shore watching somebody go past on their boat or would you rather sit on your boat watching people on the shore ?

LOl, yes I guess investment is an entirely inappropriate word to use. Unless you consider it an investment in your happiness and wellbeing of course :)

No question where I would rather be on a sunny (calm) day and ultimately that is what might draw us back in. Currently getting the house sorted so maybe when that is done and we might start to think more seriously about another boat. Might be a yacht somewhere warm though.......

We had the use of 32 ft bavaria sports boat, found we didnt get down as much. we now have a 42ft flybridge and use it every week all through the year, more space means you can have others to stay with you, more home comforts plus loads of other benefits.

you cant take it with you so you might aswell spend it and enjoy it :)

I bought a 40' aft cabin flybridge boat last year. Was looking for something much smaller, but this came along. I agree this is much more versatile than a smaller boat, we go out on cool spring and fall days I'd not likely take a smaller boat out. We have friends and kids along, my kids use the boat at the slip with their friends, my son-in-law has taken to using it as his home office, as my new grandchild can make home difficult to work from. It isn't too big to single-hand, no thrusters, just twin straight-shafts, and the weight of it stays where I put it long enough to throw a line around a piling or cleat. It is small enough to take it out for quick sunset rides or to dine, big enough to stay on for hours without a destination, going slow and burning little fuel.
