To dodger or not

49 ft boat, big green wave landing in dodgers broke 3 stantions.

And without it - may have broken someone's arm perhaps?

I doubt it. Presumably the boat was heeled, the wave landed on the leeward dodger and the weight of water bent the stanchions. An arguement for not having dodgers or for securing them with lashings that will break before the stanchions do.

Thread drift... a bit.

Bimini and spray hood are white on my raggy. Makes a huge difference in temperature when under their cover... as opposed to a mate who has dark blue coloured appendages.

Tougher to keep clean but worth it in warm climes.

Now back to our regular programming.:D

Yes imortant to not attach the bottom of the dodgers with more than the odd thin cable tie if you know you will at some point sail in choppy waters.
