to do list

Neil - with regard to insulating the warm air system ducting, we did this earlier in the year. Rather than pay a fortune for the Webasto/Eberspacher tubes, we bought exactly the same 3M material off the roll and ended up spending around £30-40 rather than the estimated £200 plus using the 'proper' tubes. It has definitely made a difference. If you are interested, let me know and I will find out where we got it from.

As for work, we probably could do with being lifted out but will wait for the summer deals.
In that case, we will do the usual antifoul/anodes but will also look at the shaft tube and rudder seals to replace all the gubbins in there.
I could also do with working out a new anti siphon for the genny which doesn't dribble into the bilge. Trouble is the position of the anti siphon in the system means we can't use the standard Vetus/Jabsco type so we have one of those with a rubber disc inside with a small hole in it which is supposed to stop water going one way but let air the other. It does the second perfectly, hence my reluctance to change it. The first doesn't happen properly, which is annoying.
A new foresail would be good but may try and squeeze another season out of the old one.

I have to:

1) get a new wheel for my launching trolley after some thieving g*t filched one from mine.
2) Fit new Antal winches on the coach roof.
3) Fit my new winch handle pocket.
4) Move the existing winches to the cockpit to act as spinnaker winches.
5) Speak to someone clever to find out whether my radio is working or whether it is the aerial.
6) Speak to someone clever to see if I need to earth my seacocks.
7) Speak to someone clever to find out the best sort of rubberised paint to paint the ceiling of my cabin with.
8) Paint the cabin ceiling.
9) Antifoul.
10) Service the outboards.
11) Apply lots of polish.
12) Launch.
13) Sail to St. Katherines, up the East Coast, maybe Holland - if brave enough, and dabble in Burnham Week.
14) Haul out in Autumn.

You must tell me how you find the last of the deck leaks!

and your solution for the worry about the iron bolt through the stern post is? (gliberfast boat owners need not read further...)

I'd be very interested in where you got it from....

I'd already realised that the Eberspacher stuff is an unbelievable ripoff, and today took a peek while in the DIY store at the 4mm foil bubble wrap stuff..... its about £60 for enough, and is equivalent to 65mm of polystyrene.... but i'd be very interested in a proven solution....

With what?

I'd previously had it in my head that hot water tank lagging was the answer...... but a little research reveals that all you can buy now is quilted stuff that is about 3" thick!..... i'm sure it would be brilliantly insulated, but the pipes would be like tree trunks!!!!

I bought rolls of Aluminium foil backed bubble wrap, and loads of tie wraps.
Sealed the joints with sticky back aluminium tape.
I bought mine from Maldon when they were having a clear out - 5m long rolls about 1m wide.
Whole thing cost about 40 quid I think.

woah... that looks good!

Can we assume that we will see the good ship Flipper passing by soon, with her skipper in carpet slippers, sipping a G&T, while the poor old gal does all the hard work herself?

Where do I start?

Strip and re-paint the decks, cabin top & cockpit.
Replace the cutless bearing.
Re install the engine
Re-install the fuel tank
Replace all the wiring.
Replace mast, boom and standing rigging.
Replace the port side cabin windows
Re-fit the starboard main cabin lining
Make and fit lining to the port side of the main cabin and the forcabin.
Make a fit a shelf in the forcabin
Finish making a housing for the radios and switch gear by the nav desk
Make a housing for the main switch panel
Install Eberspacher heating system.
Remove 2 rusted in bolts from the top of the keel
Re install the keel
Strip and renew the antifouling (Thanks Jim for the heads up)
Rub down and re-varnish all the wood down below
Install all the new nav instruments, plotter etc.
Unwrap and put in position the new upholstery from EastCoastBernie.
And a few other things beside.

Then launch and enjoy the summer.

Ok, we get the picture.

Can give you a weekend in early April. Have skills for any of the tasks listed above.

Have you dried out the boat yet? FC in need of a bit of dehumidifying. Can you bring it to the January do?

Clive, still willing to pile in when I can, even (hopefully) sorted transport now, so can you advise what you're planning and when, then if there's something where help can be given by anyone available, they and I know what you're hoping to get done and will have a chance to give a hand. You might have to wait until the ice age has passed though /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Chear up mate, there's enough help on here to get it done in time /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I'll even be cheaky enough to volunteer the services of SimpleSimon as he's too shy to speak up /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Feeling a little bit guilty here as I dont really have anything major to do other than a bottom scrub and anti-foul. The general theme for 2009 however is "cosmetics", so I guess in one word, I have just contradicted what I said about anything major /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

There was filthy rumnour that your biggest 'to do' was to go Broker Worrying, and then poking about unsuitable craft until you find one that suits your aaspiration and budget?

[ QUOTE ]
indeed that is a filthy rumour....

OysterPipeDream just doesn't work does it?

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

No but FarrTP52PipeDream might.

And indeed that rumour may well prove to have something to it. Just last night, I was in serious discussion regarding an attempt on the Round Britain 2010 which has a minimum 30ft limit .... watch this space I guess. Pristine condition, one careful owner, low mileage Centaur anyone /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
