TO ALL BUDDING WELDERS. I need ARGON gas for my tig welder in greece ?

Hi All,

I will be needing Argon gas for my tig welder when im in Greece, any bottle size really,,, outright purchase is best as don't want any sort of contract like
in the uk, but Its available as an out right purchase in the uk now so hoping its the same deal in Greece.

A Greek friend bought our initial full bottle for us in Heraklion and we can get it refilled within a week at a tool shop in Agios Nikolaos on Crete. It is available but not always easy to find.

Also in Agios Nikolaos there is a small welding and fabrication shop at the back of the football ground, he will be able to point you in the right direction.

The tool shop that does our refills is on the same road as the bus station in Ag Nik, just a bit further up. He has to send your bottle off to Heraklion, takes about a week.

Because sometimes its difficult to obtain a bottle in the first place,,,,As hand luggage wouldn't allow it on the plane:disgust:

I'm sure the guy in the tool shop will be able to get hold of a bottle for you, they're not cheap though!

We paid €150 for a full, half-size, bottle and fitting to get it onto our tig welder.

Ah ok,,,here in the uk on account, half bottle is £60 deposit, £60 to 75 to refill, regulator £40 ish
So similar I reckon,,

Welding is about the only thing that makes us tie up and connect to shore-power

Will be me too as buying a 6kva genny is NOT going to happen, its and ac dc tig unit, power consumption is low, but not
worthy of buying an expensive genny, Thought of fitting a generator unit to the engine to run the welder,,,possible but a pain, My friend has it, then just take the
belt of when not in use,,,But regulating the revs is an issue
