'Tis a dark and stormy night

Blowing a barsteward here in Weymuff - West Country cruise delayed pending a drop from F9. Have resorted to strong drink to calm my nerves. The Portland Race might be a tadge too frisky methinks even for my eejit crew.

And it's supposed to continue all week.

All these posts are scaring me no end. I'm in London and the boat is in Preston. Thankfully on a pontoon, and more the likely safe as houses, but, well, I know what parents feel like when their kids start going on night out I think.

reports earlier say that west cork and gallway are getting hammered.

plymouth bad earlier so new tarpaulins for me tomorrow i guess.

It's a filthy morning outside but the winds have dropped from last night. Still some pretty nasty gusts though...

After 8 years in the Caribbean I have nothing but respect for you British sailors, by christ we've had some winds since we got back in the summer. I don't remember it being like this 10 years ago, or is that just my aging memory??
Seems like every 8 days or so there is a really nasty patch of weather coming through. Is that normal for the winter months to have such ferocious winds?

A lot of the stuff we've had lately is far worse than the tropical storms and even hurricanes that we have experienced on t'other side.

Respect brothers (and sisters).

Tuesday Night: Lizard lifeboat, cruise ship, 2 x helos and others. Out, looking for a liferaft for about 8 hours.

Turned out to be empty; gone adrift from a French fishing boat.

Something lost in translation.

Not a night to be out at all, let alone on an unnecessary trip.

Good to know the system works though.
