Tips for a novice

Don't think I'd get it down a canal with a 8.5 ft beam, besides I wouldn't consider it secure in London unless you were on it

Not all canals are narrow; in fact most (in terms of mileage are broad). You can get all the way from Brentford to Birmingham on broad canals and these are 14 ft wide.
Many of the paid for moorings form little communities with liveaboards somewhere in any stretch and they tend to keep an eye out for each over.

You wanted a cheap mooring, complained about facilities you don't need. Well, you'd have a serious challenge on the Thames; more so if you now add security to your list. That's why I suggested the Grand Union. A lot nearer 'ammersmiff than Guildford - which you complained was too far....

Have you tried Brentford marina? they always have a sign up saying berths available, also worth a walk up the canal from there never knwo what you might find.
I took a 25ft x 8.5ft Sports crusier up there a few years ago and across London via the Regents canal to Limehouse then back up the tideway, a great trip. You would be surprised what sort of craft are hidden away on the canals.

I used to walk and fish along the Grand union and on good days you could see the bottom, pretty sure it wasn't 9 ft. Had some good suggestions of waterways just off the Thames which sound more practical, just need to confirm something and hope pal still has it for sale

So far we have the dimensions 26.5 ft Length, 8.5 ft Beam and 8.5 ft Draught. Is this a sailing vessel? Most motor boats draw far less than 8.5 feet.

Actually just got back to him on that as it does seem a bit out of proportion and he's confirmed it's a typo, reckons it's about 3ft draft

Sounds to me as if someone is getting his undercarriage confused with his corporation ……. :D

Very well put!!

There's no way to please this guy - we come up with (fairly) well considered suggestions and get attacked for our submissions. It's just not possible to dump a boat anywhere in the London area for no great cost.
If it's a small cruiser, it might be cheaper to haul it out and store it on land?

Some people have been helpful and I think I've found somewhere However, sarcastic comments get sarcastic answers.

Thank's again to the people who have been helpful.

BTW: Doe's anyone know if there's such thing as a map or chart, online preferably, that show's where you can buy fuel from along the south coast?
