When trying to start an old outboard which has not seen the light of day for a year or so, do not remove and clean spark plug several times, tip out all fuel in the tank, start to clean fuel lines, cuss and swear at the thing BEFORE realising that what you thought was the fuel on switch was actually the gear shift.

It always helps to turn on the fuel, after which it started second pull, as it always has in the past!! Doh!!

:encouragement: observation skills are on Thursday afternoon. :encouragement:

We all do it or something similar.

My worst was trying to set up the depth fish finder, sat for about 10 mins watching all the pretty fish swimming under the boat, ........ then realised I had switched on the training program.:o

Tom.

got a new Honda lawn mower last week, it had already been "pdi'ed" and sent to me courtesy of Honda UK. I filled with fuel and pulled the starter 5 times with no joy, at that point I knew something was wrong. Its a Honda for god sake and therefore will start first or second go... spent 5 minutes reading the instruction, fuel was on, its auto choke....etc etc... then read the big yellow tag hanging off the starter cord, "Spark plug lead disconnected in transit, re-fit before attempting to start".
