Anyone bought one of these via the US distributor. The website advises to buy via the UK agent but the US website shows an online price of 65 dollers which is way way cheaper, but will they sell direct to uk buyers?
Looks like it works on a diesel engine by counting pulses as fuel is fired from the injector pump to one of the injectors - does that sound right. If so, it might be the short term answer for my non reading tacho.

How does it know how many cylinders the engine has?
The installation instructions on the website don't seem to have any selection that you can make for cylinder number, unless I missed it?
It does sound like a very neat piece of kit, I have no Rev counter or Hours counter at present so it could be just the ticket.
I bought one of these two years ago, VERY easy to install - literally clamp onto the fuel injection pump and hook up to the power; 5 minute job and it works very well.
I seem to remember telling the UK distributer that it was a 2GM20; so it may have come pre-configured; I don't seem to remember setting it up.

I have just realised that if it is clamped to the injection line to a single cylinder, then it does not matter how many there are!!
Each cylinder will fire once every 2 revolutions.
Duh!!!
I bought one from the UK distributor and it was worth every penny of the "extra" cost. I needed a lot of help sorting out the sensor as the injector pipes are non-standard size. Richard Dunn at tinytach(UK) was very patient and sent additional sensors to get the right one by trial and error.
I put extra in quotes as I suspect that you are liable for import duty and VAT if ordering from the USA and this is factored into the UK price.
