I spotted a small report in PBO (march 07) for the Tiny-Tach Diesel rev.counter. I have ordered one (the price is now £55 thanks to strong £/$ exchange rate) and received really good response and service. No connection, just a happy chappie.

I am in the market for this sort of thing. I got no response from the UK agent; any problems with ordering direct, did you send a sterling cheque? I must say the 5 year battery thing did make me think.

You can usually dissasemble something like this, unsolder the contacts and find an equivelent Li battery to replace with.

Good idea to double check the injector pipe diameter to get the right sensor as it has to be a tight fit on the pipe to work.

I guess at that dollar price you can order direct from US and not get clobbered for duty, but will uk agents handle any warranty issues?

My Jag.27 has a Yanmar 2GM20, which, apparently, has 6mm high pressure fuel lines. The unit can be run from the 12v ships supply, which recharges the internal battery, or from a 9v power pack battery.(this lasts one year) You could order it direct from USA (about US$55,plus p&p etc)but the US web site discourages this. Don't know if the 5 year internal battery life will be an issue. (Will I still be the proud owner,of my boat, or anything else for that matter, in 5 years)

I have had one on my Colvic 26 with Yanmar 2GM20F for two seasons now and have been impressed with the unit. The only drawback has been its lack of internal lighting but then I dont motor much at night.

I have had one fitted to my 2gm20 for a year and am very pleased with it. Something to watch out for is that the cable it came with was only 5 foot long and can't be lenthened by the user.It proved just long enough in my case. The internal battery is for the memory which keeps track of engine hours. I useful feature I find.

I use a Faria TD9122D alternator driven tachometer which is waterproof, has backlighting, doesn't require any external components and doesn't require a battey either. It cost $62.00 inc p&p and was obtained through a web source that saved over £40 off the UK rip-off price.

OK, so calibration takes all of 2 minutes .... tick over >> full power with no load x 3 = adjust, possibly adjust and then check .... and there you go /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Calibration can be a pain, which is why I went tiny tach.
My engine should rev to 2200 or so I thought, in fact its 1900 as its been de-rated took me 2 days trying to set up an alternator Tach using 2200 as the max rev limit, until I gave up and binned it in favor of the Tiny Tach which required no set up.............
