Used to get tinned butter in compo rations, I think. Would be v handy for the boat. Can you buy easily in UK? Amazon have ghee, not sure that's what I'm looking for?

They found Shackleton's butter barrel some years back (nowhere near "centuries" old and it took them some while to realise what it was - istr it stank was so bad they thought it must be some sort of seal-fat lubricant for the sleds.

It's eye wateringly expensive though. It's only used now by whacko preppers up in the hills in darkest Montana and maybe some militaries.
