Time to unpin?

I've got an idea......

Just to clarify....

The RB thread has still had over 500 odd views in the last 24 hours, more than the vast majority of other posts. The gallery has had over 250 views today. Whether you think so, or not, it's still a popular topic

The other one is promoting this months content in the magazine which is relevant for this month, so why shouldn't it be a sticky?

Why do they need pinning? If they're popular enough they'll stay at the top on merit.

Unfortunately this forum doesn't work like that, topics remain in chronological order from the time/date they were posted...At least they do on my system

Actually just thought about this....and if topics did work on the most popular at the top, one would probably have to wade though 4 pages of anchoring, flag etiquette, and colregs posts to get to anything new /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Flaming evidently has his viewing options set to "sort threads by most recent response" (or somesuch) rather than "sort threads by date". As you point out, there isn't an option to sort threads by popularity.

Yes, set to most recent post at the top.

Is that not the norm?

Thats the way mine are set up too.....

I can't remember what the default setting are, but in your user options/display prefs you can decide to sort topics by last thread posed or creation date

The pinned threads are taking up less space than the threads about the pinned threads at the moment! We use these sparingly but want to promote content that is of interest and these are attracting views, whether people choose to comment on them positively or not.

I appreciate that the pins are unpopular with a few so we'll be sparing with their use in future...

Cheers,
Dan
