Time to change insurer

Is there a genuine broker in our market, or do we have to buy direct from one of the well-known providers? None of the providers mentioned in this thread are genuine brokers. They all agree policy terms with underwriters and then market that policy, and that policy alone. Is there a broker who can give impartial advice and shop around the whole market?

Colemans based in Poole .
Been with them since day dot ( 2005 )
Sunsseker special called “ shield “ based on Amlin .They write / adapt that one for new / nearly new .
Sunsseker Normal ...Amlin .
Martello also Amlin I think For the Itama .
Something else Zurich based ...they shopped around and found it for me .

Have to add each base policy has altered over the years .So a “ shield “ today will be slightly different to a “shield “ of 2005 .
Some things drop out , some things are added in .Bit like wine no two years are truly identical.

The Market / risks / claims profiles ...evolves and so should you when it comes to renewing.

I would like to speak up for a company I’ve used for the last 4 or 5 years, VELOS. Had one claim, 4K, all dealt with professionally and friendly.

I have just renewed through Coleman who I have been with since the start. they use Amlin primarily who are in my view very reliable. One key issue which has been debated on these forums is the issue of coverage when you are at anchor and off the boat and out of line of sight. The advice I have after Coleman spoke with the underwriter is very clear and in email to me. Basically to cut it short you are covered under the policy if out of sight and they said the key thing they would look at is whether you had anchored in a safe place ie if you anchor somewhere fundamentally unsafe you may have a problem. Amyone who spends tile on anchor should c heck carefully the language in their policy
