Out of curiousity I tried to get a time signal on my Sangean (ATS 818) sw radio. Looked up the frequencies and gave it a try.
I couldn't get anything. Tried the American WWV on 2.5, 5, 10, 15 and 20 MHz, the Russian one on 4.996, 9.996 and 14.996 Mhz and even the Canadian and Chinese stations. Absolute nothing. About the only station that I did get was DW on 6.075 but since they transmit from Woofferton that's hardly an achievement. Oh and they don't do time signals anyway.
So what's there apart from longwave reception?

I used a special aerial that I bought specifically for the job so I'm a bit disappointed.

Are you sure these stations still transmit?? With the advent of GPS some "old" time transmissions were stopped. I am not saying these do not transmit anymore ..... it was just a thought.

Alan.

I've just tried it, both on a handheld with ext ae, and a full HAM rig - nothing on either.
I would expect trans-atlantic at this time of night.
The site says it's AM modulation by the way, not SSB.
